The commentaries relate to classical Latin texts, including Lucan's ''De Bello Civili'', and Vergil's ''Eclogues'' and ''Georgics'' (see Filargirius). The commentary expands on a reference of Lucan's to the druidic human sacrifice to Teutates (Mercury), Esus (Mars) and Taranis (Jupiter).
